IMP

I come from a long line of IMP's (hi dad!). So it shouldn't surprise me that Nate is a little IMP (Noun: 1. mischevious child 2. small demon). This morning I was watching Nate play in his nursery while getting ready for work. He was playing with his shoe and the diaper pail - gross, I know. Next thing you know, I hear "oh no, oh no." Hubby and I have already agreed that this is our very favorite Nate phrase.

Unfortunately, I knew exactly where that shoe went and where my hand was going to have to go to get it. Nate kept poking around the diaper pail saying, "oh no, oh no." I picked up the remaining shoe and proceeded to ask Nate where his other shoe was. His response, "I don't know. I don't know." So I pointed at the diaper pail and asked him if the shoe was in there, but once again he shrugs and says, "I don't know." I realized he wasn't giving up his secret so I fished out his shoe and little IMP was very happy. Can't wait to see what I will be fishing out of the diaper pail in the future. Happy Friday!

Train Museum

We have been hit with the sick in our house. Poor Nate spent the weekend battling a fever, bright purple barf, and other ailments of which I will spare ya'll the details. Hubby caught a cold, too. Our President's day weekend was a bit of a bummer. Luckily, before the sick had taken over, we got to hang with some of our favorite peeps. The Colt Family was in the Bay Area for 48 hours from Bend, OR to celebrate papa Martin's 60th bday (Happy Birthday Bill!)

We met Katy, CJ, Brennan, Bill and Carol in Old Town Sacramento at the Train Museum. We spent some time trying to get our wiggleworms to pose for a picture. Could be worse.

I thought it would be cute to get their picture from behind this grate on the train. Um, yeah, that didn't work out very well. Hubby said that he hopes this is the only time he sees these two behind bars together.

There was a button for kiddos to press that made the sound of a train whistle. Nate was a bit hesitant about pressing the button at first, but once he got started there was no stopping him.

And a pic of Katy and I. She is due with her second little boy on April 7. She is pretty much the cutest little pregnant person ever.

Loved hanging with our Oregonian friends. Next time we see them they will be a family of four. Come back to visit soon!

Trickery

I did it! I tricked my stubborn little monster into eating, ok drinking, his veggies. Yeah, I'm going to be that kind of mom. Green Machine Naked juice (the same stuff I use to trick myself into eating veggies) + blueberries + ice = funky purple smoothie that Nate LOVES. Next time I am going to add in some flax seed too....oh, and I should probably make extra for myself.

Happy Friday!

Deep Thoughts

Love Bug

We went to Chow, one of our favorite local restaurants, on Valentine's Day. A total burbs perk is how perfectly acceptable it is to bring your little one out to dinner...on Valentine's Day, no less. We started dinner with a toast.

Nate opened up his presents. He got this cool Elmo doodle toy that is perfect for dining out. Somehow Nate figured out who Elmo was on his own (how the heck does that happen?). He is a big fan and says, "Emo," whenever he sees his buddy Elmo.

Nate also discovered that he likes crab. Who knew?! I'm not sure if it was the novelty of eating with chopsticks or the actual crab, but we'll take it.

Spoiled

I am perfectly spoiled...just like I like. These two cute boys...

had these pretty flowers sent to my work.

I got to eat a ridiculously yummy, inventive meal on Saturday night at Commis in Oakland. Our 2 and a half hour meal was 6 courses and we did the wine pairing. Loved it. My only regret is my epic fail at taking any pictures of the gorgeous food. Hubby reminded me at the very end that I should take some pictures, so sadly all I have is a pic of our empty glasses. Oops.

Nate and I made heart shaped fudge for his teachers. He is really into school right now and claps his hands when he hears he is going. He says, "cool, cool."

I also made some yum yum saltine toffee for work. Grabbed the recipe here

Happy Valentine's Day. I hope you get spoiled too. XOXO.

Li'l Snow Bunny

Today is Nate's 16 month birthday. I can hardly even believe that 16 months have passed since this precious little boy entered our lives. I can honestly say that each day is more fun than the last (and I am saying this after he spent two hours barfing on mom and dad in the middle of the night last night). He loves to watch Yo Gabba Gabba and the toddler tunes music channel on TV. He will grab the remote and start dancing to tell us that he wants us to turn the tv on. He loooves playing with baseballs, basketballs and footballs. He shoots on his mini basketball hoop and claps for himself when he makes a basket. He has 9.5 teeth and is quite the eater. He is also very opinionated and will violently shake his head if he doesn't like what's for dinner. He recently started saying no (though mainly reserved for when we take his pacifier away). He also says banana, all gone, mama, dada, school (cool), agua, book, ball, cheese, shoes, basketball, football, baseball and of course, go giants! He quacks whenever he sees a duck, barks whenever he sees a dog and is working on his moooo.

He also signs, I love you, which is my most favoritest thing. He loves to read books with mommy and daddy, especially "I'm the Biggest Thing in the Ocean" and "Goodnight Moon." He is so happy and sweet and animated.

We were lucky enough to spend last weekend with our friends the Greens (baby on the way, maybe Nate's future girlfriend?!) up in Tahoe.

At first, Nate was a little puzzled by the snow (pronounced no, no, no!)

But then he decided to jump right in and check it out. His boots were too tough to walk in so he reverted to crawling. It was easier to eat the snow that way, too.

Before long, he decided that he loooved playing in the snow.

Sunday morning we woke up to a couple of feet of fresh powder and Nate experienced his first snowfall.

We love going on adventures with our little boy. Happy birthday precious li'l snow bunny!
